Sue Baxter-Pflederer RN, CCM - President

Sue began her nursing career in a hospital setting in the Coronary Care Unit, Respiratory Step-down and Medical Intensive Care units. She then established the Organ Donation Program and Transplant Coordinator position at a large teaching hospital. Sue began working as a Medical Case Manager for a national company in the areas of workers’ compensation, health insurance and liability and later for a mono-line workers’ compensation carrier.

It was never my intention to start a business. But, after seven years as a case manager I felt medical case management could be done differently, with less rigidity and more flexibility. So with a little preparation, I gave my notice on April Fools’ Day 1997! Two days later, we opened our doors as MMI of Illinois. Since then, my hunch has paid off. The company continues to grow along with feedback about our flexibility and professional service.

Throughout her career, she has been involved in many industry organizations. She was previously a member and served on the Board of The Workers’ Compensation Claims Association and the National Association of Geriatric Care Managers, and she is currently a member of the Case Management Society of America, The Greater Peoria Claims Association as well as the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants. She serves on the Board of Kids’ Chance Inc. of Illinois serving on both the Fundraising and the Scholarship Committees and as the National Delegate.
